Okay, so yesterday I met a man named Gary who has a business delivering meats (beef, chicken, seafood, pork) to people’s homes. He gave us the sales pitch about their products. They sell meats that are individually vacuum wrapped. Each type of meat has different selections in them. For example, the beef box has hamburgers, tbones, beef tips, and a various assortment of steaks. It is a lot of beef. Our neighbor had purchased meat from them and said nothing but good things about it. So, the Jones family is experimenting with the beef in the box, although the alaskan king crab legs looked GOOD!
Last night I was dying to try some to see if it was worth the money. So I put two steaks on the grill, without any seasoning, to see if I had wasted my money or not…..OH MY! Cooked them medium and they were SO good. “Make-you-wanna-jump-up-and-slap-your-mama” good. I’ll be trying the different varieties, and if we like the rest, then we’ll give it our official “Approved By AJwired.com” stamp of approval and maybe even send some business their way.
Anyone else buy meat or other foods from a delivery person like that? Would be interested to hear what your experience has been.

…man, this made me so sad to read this from Travis and the crew at Hope Creek Church:
http://hopecreek.wordpress.com/
They are shutting down Hope Creek after 8 years of ministry in Seneca, SC. It has been a hard road for them at times. Travis was on staff at CCC when I first arrived back in 1998, and I know how much of a passion it was for him to launch and pastor a church, especially where his family was at. He was the one who gave me the nickname Dr. Jones. Pray for them as they go through the weeks ahead.

Okay, I need to give a few disclaimers. The first is that the audio is poor. For the first 9 minutes you’ll probably need to jack the volume up bigtime. Secondly, this file is very big so give it a bit to load. Anyway, here is the message and a special presentation at the end.

“God doesn’t call the prepared, He prepares the called.” Craig Groeschel
Moses. David. Peter. If God has called you to a mission, a task, a purpose…then He’ll equip you. He is our sufficiency when we feel insufficient. So the issue for us is not are we qualified enough, the issue is has God called us.

…I’m about to rip out our whole video system and chunk it. SOoo frustrating. Seems like it is one thing or another. GRRR.. Went to rip some video from a dvd to post Richard’s message from today and there is hardly any audio on it. That won’t do. I’ll have to check the DVC Pro tape or the CD to pull the audio. I’ll have the video up by tomorrow.

Today was a big day at Cedar Creek. Today Richard Swift, our founding pastor, gave his retirement message. It was an emotionally charged morning, and I thought Richard did an excellent job in communicating words of thanks and appreciation. Was very powerful.
I was serving as student pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Aiken, SC in 1997 when I was meeting with some other student pastors for lunch. I was at a point where it was time to take a turn in the road, but wasn’t sure what that was. A friend of mine mentioned that he knew this pastor that was looking for a youth guy. The pastor was Richard Swift. Kim was working at Westinghouse SRS at the time and had a friend that attended there. She gave us a cassette tape (yes, a cassette tape) of one of the messages, and Kim and I both thought “Wow, wouldn’t it be awesome to be a part of a church like that!” So, I contacted Richard and after a few months, on February 1st 1998, I began as student pastor at CCC. I was thrilled to be a part of the staff at CCC and was especially excited about serving under Richard.
Richard is one of my heroes. He is a man of faith, integrity and vision. He is a leader’s leader. He is an excellent communicator, administrator and captain. Richard loves people and want to see them meet Jesus. Most of all: Richard loves Jesus. You can see and hear it in his life.
Most of the blogs that I keep up with are blogs of church planters or churches that began fairly recently as church plants. As I have slowly began to learn just a little about church planting, I have developed an enormous amount of respect for them. While I am in no way an expert on church planting (and don’t claim to be), it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize the amount of vision, prayer, teamwork, passion, faith, planning and just flat out hard work it takes to plant a church. Richard planted CCC in April of 1993, and it has grown to over 2500, has several hundred homes groups and has seen hundreds if not several thousands of people meet Jesus. I think I read a statistic that says that close to 80% of church plants fail. So needless to say, what has happened at Cedar Creek is the work of God. Thanks Richard for being “AVALable” to Jesus and for stepping out in faith (if you’re at creeker, you’ll get the AVALable part :).

yes, it did snow! You just don’t understand. For a kid like me that grew up in SC, snow is and was a BIG DEAL. I was the kid who prayed for snow. I was the kid who would wake up every day in the winter and would rush over to the window..hoping for just a glimpse…just a little snow. It is usually very hot from April to early to mid October so snow is rare occurence here.
Well, tonight, it snowed. Shut down the roads, rush to walmart and buy bread and milk. Until…the rain came…booo rain! We had a good time. We did get to have a snowball fight with the kids and we even made snowcream. I was committed that my kids were going to see snow, play in the 1/2 that accumulated and eat some snow cream. Mission accomplished. You can check out some photos HERE! Oh, and I’ll be at the window in the morning.
